LAHORE: Punjab University and Lahore Arts Council have signed a memorandum of understanding for promotion and encouragement of artistic and cultural endeavors. In this regard, a ceremony was organized at the Vice Chancellor’s office here on Monday. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar, LAC Executive Director Saman Rai, PU Director External Linkages Dr Sobia Khurram and other officials participated in the ceremony.
Both the institutions have agreed to promote art and culture through conduction of mutual artistic, cultural and literary activities and would share resources in this regard. Both the institutions would make joint efforts to organize art and craft exhibitions, dramatic events, music programs and other artistic performances.
PU and LAC would also organize seminars, conferences, talks and workshops on artistic, literary, cultural and intellectual themes. PU would also provide experts for expert advice on the publications of the LAC. PU VC Prof Niaz Ahmad said that promotion of art could play a role in establishing a beautiful and peaceful society. Ms Saman Rai said that the MoU would provide a platform to the youngsters to exhaust and exhibit their talent in various fields of art and culture.
